We have a Speech and Language Resource Provision based at our school and this is a resource for the north east of Hampshire. Children are placed in the Speech and Language Resource Provision by the local authority. In Nursery and Year R the children are fully integrated into their classes. In Year 1 and 2 the children are taught maths and English in the Speech and Language Resource Provision classroom. In the afternoons the Year 1 and 2 children are integrated into their host mainstream class where they are supported by one of the Speech and Language Resource Provision Learning Assistants. Children in the Speech and Language Resource Provision have access to a Speech and Language Therapist on a weekly basis and a Learning Support Assistant will complete their programmes on a daily basis. All of these places are allocated following assessments by the special needs department in Winchester. Mrs Turnnidge is our qualified Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and Resource Provision Manager.
